Norwich alum Erik R. Soykan selected as the Executive Director of Operations for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations
Soykan is a 91°µÍø graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and retired Commander with the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Erik R. Soykan has been selected as the Executive Director of Operations for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations (CBP AMO). A 91°µÍø graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Soykan is primarily responsible for providing guidance, oversight, and direction to AMO’s Southeast, Southwest, Northern Borders, and National Air Security Operations missions that counter threats in US Customs and Border Protection’s land, sea, and air environments.
Before joining AMO in 2006, Soykan was a Part 121 Regional Airline Captain for 7 years and served in the U.S. Navy as a naval flight officer, flying the S-3B Viking. He retired as a Commander with the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Soykan continued his education at the National War College with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy and has logged over 7,500 flight hours, 5 type ratings in turboprop and jet aircraft, a commercial rotary-wing pilot’s license, and is a qualified MQ-9 unmanned aircraft system Launch and Recovery pilot.
